An exhibition G.O.D./Go On Disengagement/ by Pavlo Markman is about to open on December, 21 at the Kyiv Port creative hub, in Naberezhno-Khreshchatytska street 10-a. It will be held within the program of the creative residence PortArtStudio initiated by the Platform for Contemporary Art (PCA) and New Products Group.
Pavlo Markman introduces his figurative art work to the public. Subjects of his paintings blur among the patterns of tangled flags and resemble of embroidered ethnic ornaments. However one can’t determine which ethnic group is pictured in these bright colours. Artist expresses the age of permanent movements, triumph of multiculturalism, generation of people ready for disengagement.
Pavlo Markman himself says: «In the digital era, epoch of Internet and multiculturalism, all the sepia photos and all the colourful patterns create the shared past. They all are my ancestors. It’s all my culture. Ethnic rug for each of us combines different ornaments. Indian moccasins and Spanish espadrilles as well as Ukrainian embroidered shirt design my eclectic identity ».
Pavlo Markman was born in 1986 in Kyiv. He lives and creates here. Pavlo uses both traditional materials such as oil, water colors, terra-cotta and new technologies like photography, design, video recording and cartoons.
